About us

The Patient Group is elected each year from patients registered with the Practice.  We are volunteers and we meet each month for two hours to support the GPs and to act as a critical friend.  Our role is to be the voice of the patients.

We always welcome new members.  Have your say, get involved.

I owe my life a number of times over to the NHS but am very aware of where it is not perfect.

I have been working for the NHS and Community Services on a part-time basis for the past 8 years, and for thirty years I was a member of a GP's family.  I believe that patients and GPs should work together to improve services and to promote health and improved quality of care.  It is important that we ensure that patients have the opportunity to make themselves heard

Diana Smith L.L.C.M.(T.D)  - in Memoriam

Diana Smith sadly passed away recently and will be greatly missed by all at the Patient Group for her dedication to keeping our books straight, her insight and analysis, her direct maner and her irrepressible sense of humor.

Dianna was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy which means that hse used a wheelchair for 47 years and a ventilator for 16 years.

Despite her disability, Diana was involved with disability groups, Chaired Huntingdonshire Crossroads Care, been the secretary for a small church, worked as a Patient Advice & Advocacy volunteer at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, served 7 years as an elected governor at Papworth Hospital and was a member of its Chaplaincy Team.

Diana with the Charles Hicks surgery since 1965 and always stared with great passion tha she owed her life to the NHS and the care she received from the GPs at Charles Hicks.  Diana said that her reason for being involved in the Patient Group was therefore to pay back what she could by using her various experiences to support both the patients and staff to work towards the best possible outcomes for all.

You certainly did that Diana.  Thank you for all that you did, for what you achieved and the inspiration that you gave us during a life well lived in the service of others.  We will miss you but will cherish memories of working with you.
